Carbs Aren’t The Enemy…Bad Nutrition Strategies Are
Carbs Aren’t The Enemy…Bad Nutrition Strategies Are
If you were born before the 80’s, you’ve probably watched nutrition advice change about every 15 minutes for the last 30 years 😆
One minute fat was bad.
Then carbs were bad.
Then fruit was bad.
Then potatoes were bad.
Then rice was bad.
Hell…at some point it felt like everything except air and sadness was bad for you.
Meanwhile people are more overweight, more exhausted, and more frustrated than ever.
So maybe the issue isn’t the carbs!!!
Maybe the issue is…a bunch of completely unsustainable nutrition strategies people keep trying to force themselves to follow.
I’ve been coaching people for more than 35 years now, and I can tell you this with absolute certainty…
Most adults are NOT overweight because they had oatmeal or rice.
They’re overweight because life happened.
Careers happened.
Stress happened.
Kids happened.
Schedules happened.
Poor sleep happened.
Less movement happened.
More eating out happened.
More stress eating happened.
And little by little…consistency disappeared.
Then somebody tries to fix everything by going on some super restrictive diet that makes them miserable within 10 days.
That cycle repeats over and over again.
Especially for adults born before the 80’s.
Because your body changes over time whether people want to admit it or not.
Recovery changes.
Hormones change.
Muscle mass changes.
Energy changes.
Stress tolerance changes.
Lifestyle changes.
That doesn’t mean you’re broken.
It just means your approach needs to evolve.
Honestly, one of the biggest mistakes I see people make is trying to eat like they’re still 25 years old while living the life of an exhausted 52 year old business owner running on caffeine, stress, bad sleep and 6 hours in the car every day 😆
That’s not reality.
And nutrition has to fit REAL life or it won’t last.
At Achievement Fitness, we don’t do starvation diets.
We don’t do punishment meal plans.
And we definitely don’t pretend carbs are the devil.
Could some people benefit from LOWER carbs?
Absolutely.
Could some people benefit from BETTER carb choices and better timing?
Absolutely.
But that’s very different than pretending carbs themselves are the problem.
Most adults simply need:
More structure
Better consistency
More protein
Better hydration
Improved food quality
Awareness around portions
Strength training
and a plan they can actually stick with long term.
That’s the stuff that changes lives.
Not suffering through another miserable diet for 3 weeks.
The goal should never be to become the lightest, weakest, hungriest version of yourself.
The goal is to become:
Stronger…
Healthier…
More capable…
More energetic…
And more resilient for the long run.
That’s a completely different mindset.
And honestly, once adults born before the 80’s finally stop chasing extremes and start following a smarter plan designed for where their body AND life are NOW…
Everything usually starts working a whole lot better.
If you’re tired of jumping from one nutrition plan to another and ready for a smarter, more sustainable approach…
Schedule a Discovery Call and let’s talk about where you are NOW and the best path moving forward.
